Today my baby girl is 6 years old and as I look at her I wonder, where has the time gone?
It feels like just yesterday that I was holding her in my arms for the 1st time (OK, maybe not yesterday but the image is still so fresh in my mind that it might as well have been yesterday). I wish I could say that I remember glancing into her eyes for the 1st time but I don’t think I saw much through my tears of joy…what I can tell you without a doubt is that it was Love at first sight!
It’s amazing what images and memories I hold on to and treasure. As I sit here typing this (trying to hold back tears) I am watching my daughter get pampered at a kids salon and I remember how we used to call her “Pebbles” (from The Flinstones). That nickname came to be because she only had one patch of hair on the top of her head that we were able to put a bow on (that wouldn’t fall off immediately). While her hair still isn’t that long, I am watching her get her hair blow dried straight for the 1st time (she is beyond ecstatic even though I LOVE her curls) and I am left wondering where the time has gone.
In the last few weeks I have noticed gradual changes in her mannerisms, speech and behavior and I am not, I repeat “NOT” ready for it.

In what feels like an instant my baby girl has grown up and she is now a little lady. This has reminded me that while life is crazy and there are 10,000 things to do in any given day, I only have a certain amount of time with my kiddos before they are off doing their own thing. Therefore, I need to take time out of my busy schedule to enjoy them EACH and Everyday!!!
Despite my pleading with her to not grow up, she has told me that she needs to get bigger like me BUT she did tell me that no matter how old she is, she will always be my baby girl! So as I watch her continue to grow up what seems to be way too fast, I take comfort in her words (I may even use them against her if needed.
Happy 6th Birthday Baby Girl….Mami LOVES you!!!!!
