Summer is almost here. Do you feel that you have the summer body you want? I don’t (I blame all my travel adventures for that. Ok, that plays a small part. It’s more because I have very little self control even when I am not traveling). Part of achieving your weight goals is being honest with yourself and recognizing your eating habits (Hence my confession earlier). When summer gets here I want to have a summer body that I feel good about. A body I am comfortable with. Not for anybody else but for myself.
I am not a fan of diets, I love food too much and I am so picky when it comes to what I eat. That’s why these tips are great. With a few small lifestyle changes you are on your way to having the body you are comfortable with no matter what season it is.
5 Tips For Achieving A Summer Body You’re Comfortable With
Increase Water Intake
Water is essential to a healthy body and the average adult should be drinking at least 80 ounces a day- more if you are an active adult.
Tip: While this seems like a lot, try breaking it down this way…
- 8 ounces within 30 minutes of waking up
- 16 ounces with breakfast
- 8 ounces with a morning snack
- 16 ounces with lunch
- 8 ounces with an afternoon snack
- 16 ounces with dinner
- 8 ounces before bed
*If you work out, be sure to drink another 16 ounces of water as you work out.
By breaking it down, you ensure your body is always hydrated and less chances of you getting tired of drinking water. Check out these 13 Tips For Drinking More Water
Give Your Metabolism A Boost
It’s not as hard as you may think to give yourself a metabolic boost. You can do it by simply changing the times and amounts you eat.
Tip: A schedule like the following will help…
- Breakfast within one hour of waking up (YES, you have to eat breakfast)
- Morning snack two hours after breakfast
- Lunch two hours after morning snack
- Afternoon snack 2.5 hours after lunch
- Dinner 2.5 hours after afternoon snack
- Nighttime snack two hours after dinner, but not within an hour before bed
Increase Your Protein Intake
Protein helps stave off hunger, and people who eat protein with breakfast tend to weigh less and eat less than those who don’t. It’s easier than you may think and will keep you feeling full and energetic all day long.
Tip: Eat at least one serving of protein (an egg, a tablespoon of peanut butter, or almonds) with each meal and snack.
Walk 30 Minutes a Day
Walking is simple and free way for you to boost your energy and help you lose weight.
Tip: All you need is at least 30 minutes and if you can’t do it everyday, try doing it at least 3 times a week.
Incorpoate Weights
Incorporating weights are an important part of helping you achieve your goals. This doesn’t mean you have to bulk up, but even 10 pound weights, used for five minutes twice a day, can make a huge difference in your physical appearance.
Tip: Lift them first thing in the morning before you get kids up for school, and then use them sometime at night (even while you are preparing dinner).
I hope that these tips will give you the Summer Body you are comfortable with because really that’s what it’s all about, being comfortable in your own skin. You can do it!!!!!
*Remember, I am no medical professional. These are just some tips I will be incorporating to achieve my goals. Do what is right for you and if you have other medical issues, consult your doctor just to be sure.
