Now that the kiddos are back in school, I start to worry (even more than I normally do) about keeping them healthy and ultimately happy around all the kids in their classes. As a mom, I hate to see my babies unhappy or sick…It truly breaks my heart and on those moments I wish I could take it all away and make it all better. Their health and their happiness is of the utmost importance to my hubby and I.
Let us not forget that I am also a bit of a germophobe, so I am a tad paranoid about my kiddos bringing home something funky. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that sharing is caring but not when it comes to germs! So how do we as parents keep our kids happy and healthy this school year??? Here are a few things we should encourage our kids to do:
- Eat well balanced meals (yes, that means eating vegetables)
- Don’t share drinks and food (unlikely but worth a shot anyways)
- Take Multi-Vitamins
- Get a good night’s sleep (added bonus: an early bedtime means more downtime for us parents)
- Exercise regularly
- Last but not least….one of the most important things they should be doing is washing their hands frequently!!

Hand washing a biggy. If soap and water is not available they have the option to use hand sanitizer regularly (especially now that they have so many options and convenient sizes). They should be using it after being in public areas, interacting/touching their classmates, before and after they eat, when they cough, sneeze or even blow their noses. Did you know that the New PURELL® Advanced Hand Sanitizer is scientifically formulated to kill the most germs. Plus, it includes four different skin conditioners that will help soothe your skin and maintain moisture – no matter how often you use it, such a relief!
How do you keep your kids happy and healthy? I’d love to know both as a mom and a person who really isn’t a fan of germs.
