7 Tips For Surviving Motherhood - TM2S

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my children! I truly can’t imagine life without them BUT motherhood is no joke! There are some moments throughout the day where I just go into survival mode…does that happen to you? (This is a safe place to share)
Here are 7 Tips For Surviving Motherhood

Sleep when you can (yes, that means naps)

The last time I got a real good night’s sleep was over 8 years ago…before my first child was born. I suggest sleeping whenever you get the chance because they allow you to think more clearly and address issues in a much better way. Plus, you’ll just be happier…yay for naps!

Laugh at yourself and the crazy moments of motherhood

Laughter is good for the soul and there are going to be moments in motherhood that you’re going to just have to laugh at, either because it is funny or maybe because if you don’t you’ll cry.

Be Flexible

This just may save your sanity! You will go through the trouble of planning things down to every detail only to have one small thing mess up all your plans. It happens, a lot…and that’s OK. Just roll with it and make the best of every situation.

Say Cheese

Capturing special moments is a must! Not only because our babies grow up way too quickly but also because our memory gets worse as we age (or maybe because of our kids), we can look back at it when our kiddos have moved on and started their own lives AND it’s proof that you did some amazing and special things with your kids (just in case they say you don’t love them). Advice: Take enough pictures to capture the the moments but not so many that you miss being a part of them.

Enjoy your kiddos while you can

Our kiddos grow up way too fast so enjoy them while you can! Every time we wish it was the weekend already, another week of our lives has gone by and before you know it, the kids are gradating from high school and are off to college.

Connect with other moms…but the good kind

It was such a relief to find other moms who understood my struggles and weren’t afraid to admit them. Be sure to surround yourself with the ones that are supportive and loving, not the ones who are looking to put you down, tell you what you’re doing wrong and how they are doing it right or compare their kids to yours (yes, unfortunately there are people like that).  Oh, and sneak away for a Moms Night Out regularly.

Be prepared…well as much as you really can be

I’m not just referring to having an extra change of clothes or extra diapers for the kiddos. I’m also talking about using Poise Microliners to help with your Light Bladder Leakage (LBL)…which was most likely caused by your children. This way you can do what you need to do with them (like jump on the trampoline) without fear of doing what you tell your kids not to do…peeing your pants.
