Last Friday I was invited to go on board the Disney Magic for a day so that I could experience some of the Marvel Day At Sea fun. As if a Disney Cruise wasn’t magical enough, certain sailings also offer a Marvel super hero inspired action-packed day, the “Marvel Day At Sea”. Offering a new realm of Marvel super hero adventures, food, drinks and merchandise, you and your family will surely unleash your inner super hero.
Occurring on one day during each of the special Disney Magic sailings, here is what you can look forward to during a Marvel Day At Sea:
Heroic Encounters
Black Panther, Loki, Iron Man, Star-Lord, Gamora, Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor, Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Hawkeye and even Groot are onboard for heroic encounters.
Super Hero Activities
Your kiddos can attend Marvel’s Avengers Academy where super Heroes like Spider-Man, Black Widow, Thor and Hawkeye will teach them the true qualities of being a hero. They’ll get to participate in special secret agent training, learn the path to becoming worthy with Thor, and hone their reflexes, speed and intellect with Spider-Man.

Dressing up
Everyone gets to dress up in their favorite Marvel apparel and costumes and we don’t even have to wait until Halloween to do it!
Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto and even Chip and Dale join in the fun as they dress up to honor their favorite Marvel Super Heroes for a dance party on deck in “Mickey and Friends Super Hero Celebration.”
The Shows
“Doctor Strange: Journey into the Mystic Arts”
“Families join Doctor Strange and set forth on a journey of discovery with the sorcerer supreme himself in an interactive new show, “Doctor Strange: Journey into the Mystic Arts” in the Walt Disney Theatre. Children play a special role in the experience, as Doctor Strange calls upon young apprentices to put their skills to the test in an epic battle against the Dark Dimension.”
Dr. Strange helped me conjure the Icy Token of Ikthalon.
“Heroes Unite”
“During “Heroes Unite,” an action-packed show spectacular, the largest collection of Marvel Super Heroes and Villains face off in an exciting battle at sea creating one epic finale. The spectacular features incredible stunts, special effects, pyrotechnics and music taking over the upper decks of the ship.”
Exclusive Marvel Merchandise
You’ll be able to purchase and collect items only available on the Disney Magic. The customized name tag is super cool and I was so happy when they surprised me with one! I also really liked the autograph book because there is a photo slot so you can showcase your photo with that super hero.
Exclusive at-sea screenings
Enjoy your favorite Marvel Cinematic Universe films including the newest theatrical releases, as well as viewings of the Disney XD shows: Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Marvel’s Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
Adult-exclusive Experience
Adults can enjoy an adult-exclusive experience inspired by the Guardians of the Galaxy in Fathoms nightclub, a Ravager hideout during Marvel Day At Sea. The Ravagers also paid me a visit during my time there. Thankfully, Peter Quill, also known as Star-Lord, was there to help me out. We challenged the Ravagers to a dance off and of course we were victorious (video coming soon).
“An electrifying alien dance performance amps up the energy and favorite interstellar outlaws join the party as Star-Lord’s Awesome Mixtape provides the soundtrack.”
Given how much fun I had during my short time aboard, I can only imagine how epic it really is. I was tempted to stay on board but opted to wait until I could enjoy it with my family (yeah, that is why I didn’t stay on board). Given our love of the Marvel films and characters, I know they would truly enjoy all that this special day offers.
2018 Marvel Day at Sea sailings depart from Miami aboard the Disney Magic. The five-night cruises include a stop at Castaway Cay and either Cozumel, Mexico, or Grand Cayman. Oh how fun that must have been. My son and grandsons would love this for sure.
