I did it! While I was registering for the 2014 Disney Social Media Moms Conference, I signed up for the Fun Run.

They did a similar run at last year’s conference and I opted not to do it but not this year. I am going for it!This is a big deal for me because the last time I participated in a big running event, I may have been in high school (and that was because they made me do it).

Why did I sign up? That’s a good question. Well, I am always up for a challenge. I also realized that the Disney Fun Run is a once in a lifetime opportunity. How many time will I get the chance to run through Disneyland with a great group of bloggers?

The Disney Fun Run is also a major motivation for me to start working out, which is one of my New Year’s Resolutions I had yet to start working on. I really want to be healthier and running is definitely a way to go about doing it.

Now that I am signed up, it’s time to start training. After all, I’d hate to pass out or fall in front of a bunch of bloggers (just in case they happen to be running with a camera) and I’d also like to actually cross the finish line (and not in a slow crawl). So at the suggestion of some actual runners, I downloaded a Free App “c25k free”. It provides you with a weekly 30 minute, 3 day plan to get you running a 5k in 8 weeks.

So for the first week I did a brisk 5 minute warmup walk and then alternated between 60 seconds of jogging and 90 seconds of walking for 20 minutes and then a 5 minute cool down walk. I actually did all 3 days!

Disney Fun Run - Week 1 Training

I’ll let you know how week 2 of my Disney Fun Run training goes. Keep checking back – I’ll need some accountability!
