I love reading so I was excited when I got the chance to read The Wig in the Window by Kristen Kittscher. I am so glad I read it!
The Wig in the Window is about two 7th grade girls named Sophie Young and Grace Yang who are best pals and have adventures, but not the kind of adventures you think 7th graders would (or should) have. Sophie and Grace aren’t your regular girls because they go on spy missions.
On one particular mission they decide to visit their school guidance counselor, Dr. Charlotte Agford, or as they like to call her, Dr. Awkward (LOL). As they spy on Dr. Agford, they witness a horrifying scene that leads them to believe that Dr. Agford has committed a crime. Is everything as it seems? Not really but Dr. Agford suspicious behavior leads them to believe she is guilty of something. As the story unfolds, they experience “spy” adventures and their friendship is put to the test.
I absolutely LOVED reading The Wig in the Window. I believe that I enjoyed it more because I can relate to the story line. I am about to go to 7th grade, just like Sophie and Grace, and I love doing spy work!! Secretly, I’ve always wanted to work in the FBI and crack codes. This book made me feel like I was working alongside Sophie and Grace. The way Kristen writes is unbelievable. Obviously the author isn’t in middle school anymore and yet the dialogue she’s written is exactly what a middle school-er would sound like, believe me, I would know!! I also find the friendship between Sophie and Grace in The Wig in the Window to be believable.
For being Kristen Kittscher’s first novel, Kristen blew me away and I applaud her. It is apparent that she really put her heart into this novel and her hard work payed off. I really hope Kristen writes more and does a sequel to this book!
The Wig in the Window will be available starting tomorrow, June 18th. You can actually preorder from Amazon now. Leave a comment here with your thoughts on the book when you do.
