Not that the special father in your life shouldn’t be honored every day but Father’s Day is definitely a day that we can show them how much they are loved and appreciated. Last Saturday, I was able to treat my husband to a special day of relaxation and grooming at Well Groomed Gentleman, an upscale, mens grooming lounge offering traditional barber shop services such as haircuts and hot lather, straight razor shaves, and a full-service spa. My hubby loved it and he definitely deserved i.
Here’s what he had to say about his experience at Well Groomed Gentleman…
I read recently that “Kids have Swag, Men have style, and Gentlemen have Class”. I can definitely attest that I felt very classy just by entering the Well Groomed Gentlemen’s Day Spa in Coral Gables. The first thing I noticed when you walked into the spa was an old school shoe shine chair and the shoe shiner himself. I’d like to say that I got to try out his skills but I was in my sandals since I knew I would be getting a pedicure. The customer service was on point as I was greeted by the hostess and every staff member that walked by me.
I was promptly escorted to my barber chair where I was offered a selection of coffees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks from their impressive bar. They also had a nice selection of fine cigars for purchase.
First up for my experience was a hot lather shave and a haircut and shampoo. The attention to detail given by my stylist showed me that there is a whole entire world devoted to shaving and beard maintenance. Hot towel, hot lather, straight razor, cooling stone, beard oils and even a cooling towel right out of the fridge were some of the tools used to sculpt my manly facial hair. It was also a very relaxing experience. So much so that I felt myself dozing off at one point during my hot lather shave.
The relaxation did not end there, that was just the beginning. After my beard was perfectly “lined up”, as they say, my stylist cut my hair with precision and rounded it off by shampooing my hair, felt more like a scalp massage. Yes, I almost dozed off during this process as well.
I was then introduced to my masseuse, who gave me a tour of the rest of the spa, including the massage, waxing and hand/foot sculpting area, which I would later visit. My massage was incredible and just what I needed after a very physically exhausting month. I was very curious as to how she knew the exact spots that were bothering me so, in my half-dazed state, I asked her and she said she could literally feel the tension spots and that is why she gave extra attention to those areas. I didn’t want my massage to end but alas it was time to get my hand and foot sculpting done (also known as a mani/pedi).
The last stop of my Father’s Day pampering journey was the manicure/pedicure chair. This chair continued my massage/relaxation adventure. It provided a variety of massages, that I controlled with a remote, while my nail technician proceeded to give me a MANicure and pedicure. I even had a flat screen TV and control of the remote since the TV was just for me. Yet another way that the Well Groomed Gentlemen made me feel special.
