From the moment John Wick 3 ended and we knew there was a John Wick 4 happening, my husband was just a bit excited to see it. I mean, he wasn’t the only one. So, it was no surprise when he bought us tickets to go and see the film opening weekend. Thankfully, after all the waiting and anticipation, John Wick 4 did not disappoint.
The movie picks up right where the previous one left off, with John Wick seeking revenge against the High Table, the organization that has been causing him so much trouble. Keanu Reeves once again proves why he’s the perfect choice for the role of John Wick. He brings a stoic intensity to the character, but also manages to convey a sense of vulnerability and weariness that makes him more than just a one-dimensional killing machine. The supporting cast is also great, with standout performances from the likes of Laurence Fishburne and Ian McShane.
One of the things that sets John Wick 4 apart from the previous movies in the series is the expanded world-building. We get to see more of the intricacies of the High Table and the various factions within the assassin community. This helps to add depth to the story and make it feel more like a fully realized world. The film also delves deeper into John’s backstory and motivations, providing a more nuanced portrayal of the character. We see more of his relationships and connections to other characters, which adds an emotional weight to the film’s already compelling story.
Overall, John Wick 4 is a worthy addition to the franchise. It’s a thrilling, action-packed ride that delivers everything fans of the series have come to expect, while also expanding the world and adding new layers to the story. If you’re a fan of the previous movies, you won’t be disappointed. Well, I guess that depends on what you think of how they wrap up this story. My husband and I don’t see eye to eye on this but I wasn’t happy with the way it all played out in the end. But, that is all I will say about that because I am not into spoilers.
