Living in South Florida, we all know about Pitbull (He is a Miami favorite) and now he is also “Bufo” in the upcoming movie “Epic”, which is in theaters today (5/24). Pitbull is one of the many all-star cast members which includes Amanda Seyfried (Mary Katherine), Josh Hutcherson (Nod), Colin Farrell (Ronin), Beyoncé Knowles (Queen Tara) and Steven Tyler (Nim Galuu).

Epic

My mom, kiddos and I headed on down to the movie theater in South Beach last Thursday for a pre-screening of Epic and we all loved it! Actually, my son was telling me how much he loved Epic on the way to school on Wed. morning. The movie was very entertaining (it has us ALL laughing A LOT) and there was nothing really inappropriate for the kids in the movie. I know that the word “Jerk” was used once but I don’t even think my kids picked up on it, so it really wasn’t a biggie. Although there are some fight scenes in Epic, there was nothing really scary in the movie which was good.

As a parent, I like how they emphasize that we are never alone, that although we are many leaves we are still one tree. Any movie that can keep my kid entertained and laughing and doesn’t make me want to cover their ears is Great in my book! It’s a long weekend so there is plenty of time for you to check out this film with your family. When you watch it, let me know what you think.

Synopsis:

EPIC tells the story of an ongoing battle between the forces of good, who keep the natural world alive, and the forces of evil, known as the Boggans, who wish to destroy it. When a teenage girl finds herself magically transported into this secret universe, she teams up with an elite band of warriors known as the Leafmen, and a crew of comical, larger-than-life figures, to save their world – and ours.

Disclosure: I was invited to attend a pre-screening of Epic in order to facilitate my review and so that I could know what I was talking when I interviewed the director of the film, Chris Wedge. As always, ALL opinions are my own.
