One of the things I was excited about when I found out that we’d be going on the Disney Dream was having the chance to visit Castaway Cay. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s Disney’s very own private island in the Bahamas used exclusively as a port for Disney Cruises.
Every aspect of Castaway Cay is designed to extend the Disney Cruise experience offshore. In addition to the stunning paradise location with beautiful beaches and tropical weather, you’ll also be treated to the same kind of service and convenience you’d expect on the ship.
Just as you will find on a Disney Cruise, Castaway Cay has its own designated areas for different age groups: Scuttle’s Cove and Teen Hideout both offer activities for kids to enjoy while their parents head to Serenity Bay, an adults-only spot offering tropical drinks and cabana massages. For refreshments, go grab a drink at Olaf’s Summertime Freeze or enjoy a beach cookout at Cookie’s BBQ. The food is served from 11 – 2 and is included. The kiddos went to the Kids Club for lunch so they can do some fun activities which allowed Art and I to enjoy lunch
Everyone in the family can enjoy the water park at Pelican Plunge, or look for hidden Mickeys while snorkeling by Castaway Family Beach. Play a game of volleyball, head to the Gazebo for music and dancing, go kayaking, or even try your hand at an aqua trike!
When you’re done with the fun in the sun, you can shop ’til you drop at She Sells Sea Shells…and Everything Else!
With so much happening at Castaway Cay, you certainly don’t have to worry about getting bored! But if you really want to create some extra magical memories, you can book a variety of Port Adventures in advance, from fly fishing to parasailing (which someone said was absolutely incredible). You can even book a tour on glass bottom boat to get an up-close-and-personal look at the spectacular native sea life!
While there is so much to do during your time there, you can also just find a nice spot and lay out. Do what makes you happy. With so many options, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Learn more about Castaway Cay and book your own paradise vacation by visiting the Disney Cruise Line website.
What a super fun place to visit. I like how they have different areas for different age groups.
