I love fried food. What can I say? Fried food is so delicious! Besides being “bad” for you, every time I fry something up in the house the smell of whatever we cooked lingers for days. Not only does the smell take over my house but it also gets into my hair. So much so that when I hug someone, they can probably guess what I ate. Despite all that, my love of fried food keeps me doing it over and over again.
This is why I was curious to try out The Oilless Fryer from Hammacher Schlemmer.
A fryer that cooks crispy delicious fried food without any oil?! Yes, it is possible! It creates these delicious “fried” goodies with an infrared heating element that heats to 400° F. Then, the internal fan circulates the dry hot air to cook your food to golden-brown fried deliciousness! With 80% less fat than deep-fried food, you can finally have a healthier version of all the fried foods you love (Whoohoo!).
Because there is no oil there is minimum clean up (and no used, hot, stinky oil to dispose of). Just wash the stainless steel cooking basket in the sink! Plus the house and my hair no longer smell like fried food!
I will say that I did try making a croquetta in the Oilless Fryer and while it was edible, it wasn’t quite the same. But most everything else didn’t have much of a difference. Even if it doesn’t taste exactly the same, considering the health benefits of not frying with oil, it may be worth it.
This Oilless Fryer Unit has a 60 minute timer, a removable divider for the cooking basket and can be adjusted between 170° F and 400° F to cook your food to perfection. It offers a healthier way to enjoy fried foods.
Disclosure: I received the Oilless Fryer from Hammacher Schlemmer in order to facilitate my review. However, my love of fried food and my opinions on this product are completely my own!
