I don’t know if it is because I am turning 40 later this year, or because of my health scare last year, but this year my goal is to travel as much as I can. There is so much I want to do and see and I don’t want to keep putting things off…I want to explore and embark on new adventures now.
The way I want to travel has shifted. Before when I thought of traveling, I simply thought about crossing another destination off my bucket list. Now I want to do so much more than that: I want to make the most of my travel by immersing myself in the culture.
I want to dive into the history of a place (in a fun and unique way), be bolder by trying new foods (this is a biggie that will take me out of my comfort zone, but in a good way) and experience things that will allow me to walk away with a better understanding of what makes that place so great and unique.
I started my year off by doing a bit of this in Boston and I’ve shared more about my experience (along with some tips you can implement when planning your next unique vacation) up on Alamo’s Scenic Route Blog. Be sure to check it out here!
I agree immersing oneself in the culture you appreciate the visit better.
