The theme of kindness can be found throughout the film, Same Kind of Different as Me, and to coincide with that and its upcoming Blu-ray™ and DVD release, we were sent a Kindness Rocks Kit. The kit included some river rocks, base paint, Mod Podge outdoor sealant, paint brushes and acrylic pens.
Before getting started on our Kindness Rocks, we had to watch Same Kind of Different as Me first. After all, I wanted them to understand that there are various forms of kindness and understand just how important it is. After watching the film, we created rocks with inspirational messages on them.
As The Kindness Rocks Project suggests, we can “take one when you need one, share one with a friend who needs some inspiration, or leave one for another”. Want to participate and create your own kindness rocks to help promote acts of kindness? Here’s what you will need:
- Flat smooth rocks
- Prepare the rocks by spraying or painting them with non-toxic spray/paint

- Use Oil Base Sharpie Paint Pens to create your artwork

- Finally paint a final coat of Non-toxic clear sealant
That’s the breakdown for creating your kindness rock but thankfully The Kindness Rocks Project provides some suggestions and a how-to guide here to help you.
