As a parent who often likes to eat out, I am always on the search for a family friendly restaurant BUT whenever possible I’d also like it to be unique. Those types of restaurants are hard to find but fear not, I have found one in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (thanks to a friend who posted a picture on her Instagram).
Wouldn’t a pic of a restaurant overlooking an airport (that is kid friendly) catch your attention? It did for me. That is why my family and I headed on over to Jet Runway Cafe in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for lunch (they serve breakfast too). Address: 5540 NW 21st Terrace, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309
Don’t let the exterior fool you! When you get there you are looking at a bunch of warehouses but once you step foot inside, it is so modern with an avionic decor (not sure if “avionic” is a word but let’s assume it is).
We had made a reservation that same day so we had no wait time – I advise that you arrive there before 11:30 a.m. or call ahead and make a reservation because they do get filled up. We asked for a table next to the window and thankfully they had one available. With a panoramic view of the airport’s runway, you can see from anywhere you sit.
After taking a look at the menu, I was relieved to see that the pricing was reasonable.
I opted for the boneless buffalo wings (which as you can see also came with French Fries).
My hubby ordered the beef burrito which was so filled with Flavor that I ended up trading plates with him (Thanks Babe!).
The Jet Runway Cafe also had a kids menu that provides a generous portion and is served on a Frisbee that the kiddos get to keep after. They both enjoyed their meals and loved their Frisbees.
My daughter ordered the sliders
My son ordered the chicken tenders (surprise, surprise)
While the meal was tasty and the food presentation was nice, what was really cool was being able to see the planes take off and land. Check out this video:
Our family enjoyed eating at the Jet Runway Cafe and we would definitely go there again.
