I am so thankful for the power of technology, not only has it allowed us to remain connected to friends and family during our quarantine but it also allowed us to do something really cool earlier this week. My son and I were able to do an interview with Tichina Arnold & Seth Carr about their roles in Netflix’s The Main Event. Getting this opportunity in the midst of all that is going on right now was a nice distraction. Plus, I was able to experience it with my son.
In fact, he was the one that actually asked the question to the talent. My little man asked the following question and I want to share it with you because Seth’s answer (and Tichina’s) was so great. We all need to hear this, especially the kiddos who may be struggling with bullying:
My Little Man: “Why should families watch this movie?”
Seth: “Cause it tells kids that you shouldn’t feel down. You always have someone to run to when there’s bullying and stuff. You don’t need to put a mask on to be confident. You already are confident. You have that inside yourself so don’t hide yourself from other people. Be you. Don’t put on a mask to show other people. Always bring out the best of you. Don’t let other people put you down.”
Tichina: “…Like Seth said, you don’t have to hide behind a mask, an item, a piece of material that makes you strong. It’s who you are and what’s inside of you.
Wasn’t that special. Definitely worth sharing. Now onto the fun things we learned about the movie from Tichina and Seth.
Fun Facts about The Main Event from Tichina Arnold & Seth Carr
- Seth did some of his own stunts and he really enjoyed doing the wrestling scenes.
- Tichina loved doing the wrestling stunt. She said “it was electrifying” but felt it when she got back to the hotel.
Fun Fact: On Saturday mornings, Tichina used to watch wrestling, Kung Fu and Soul Train on Saturday mornings.
- Smooth Operator was Seth’s favorite wrestler in the movie. In fact, he can sing really well in real life.
- All of the wrestlers were very nice and Samson was “a gentle giant”.
Fun Fact: Seth’s favorite WWE Wrestler is The Rock
- Seth took on this role because he got to play 2 different characters, Leo and Kid Chaos.
- The mask in the movie wasn’t based on a specific wrestler. They created it for the movie.
Fun Fact: Tichina actually sang before becoming an actor. She was in school for singing and actually sings Classical and Gospel music.
