As the new school year approaches and I begin shopping for school supplies, I am thankful that I am able to do so. Unfortunately, more than 16 million American children live in poverty which makes buying the items they need for school difficult.
Children with quality school supplies are better equipped to succeed academically and creatively, and that’s why we’re joining Champions for Kids and I am hoping you will too. It’s easy to help…
More than 3,000 Walmart stores across the U.S. are collecting school supplies for children in need with your help. All you have to do is purchase and donate a backpack full of school supplies at your local Walmart store through August 1. The best part is that the backpacks are already assembled with all the supplies they need, so it’s simply a matter of buying it.
In addition to the school supplies, each backpack contains a coupon booklet valued at over $50! So you can leave it in there for them or you can remove the coupon booklet from the backpack to use for yourself and then place the school supplies backpack in the yellow school bus donation bin on your way out. If you decide to keep the coupons and use them, the money you’ll save will hopefully cover the costs of the backpack you donated, and your donation will help a local child. It’s a win, win!

This is such a great idea. There are so many families that cannot afford. It gets really expensive to get all the things your child needs especially when it comes to clothes, shoes and supplies. Thank you for sharing this.
I think this is a great campaign! Thank you for sharing with us.
