As a Mom, there are things that my children do that make me Orgullosa (which means proud). It can be anything from something nice they said or did, a school achievement or for mastering certain milestones like crawling, walking or potty training (yay for no more diapers!!!). They never cease to amaze me so I am sure there are plenty of more proud mommy moments to come.
While it is easy for me to take note of the accomplishments of my kiddos (whether big or small) I find it more difficult to reflect on my own, so I really had to give it some thought. Here are some of the things that made the list:
- Being a “Wife” to my wonderfully supportive hubby
- Being a “Mom” to my 2 precious kiddos.
- My Hispanic Heritage and it is so important that I share my Hispanic heritage with my kids!
- Teach Me 2 Save and the community we are trying to establish here. It really has come such a long way and I am excited about what’s in store for us all
What in your life are you most Orgullosa about? For some it is their heritage, level of education, profession, being a parent, the list goes on and on and varies with each person. So, what is it for you?
Just out of curiosity, did your response(s) come easy for you or was it hard for you to answer? No matter how difficult it may be, everyone should take the the time to reflect on what makes you Orgullosa because it makes us unique and dynamic, allowing us to contribute something valuable to eachother’s lives. This is why it is so cool to find a community of women who are just like you and that you can connect to…This community is called Orgullosa!

Orgullosa is for women who don’t settle for walking the same path, but instead make a new one every day. Mission Orgullosa is a new initiative that celebrates the diverse collective beauty of Latina women. The movement encourages Latina women to promote not only our own beauty standard, but also our accomplishments as daughters of the new world. Orgullosa is more than a movement — it is an authentic reflection of the Latina woman’s steadfast spirit.
