After seeing the commercials on my daughter was counting down the days to July 19th. Why July 19th? That was the day that the Teen Beach Movie premiered on the Disney Channel and of course we were tuned in to see it. The day after that we were tuned in to watch it again and again in the days that followed. So, when it was released on DVD this past Tuesday (7/30) both my kiddos wanted to own it. After all, they’d get to watch the movie they love without any commercials and they’d get to watch the dance rehearsals for the film (which you’ll find in the bonus feature).

Teen Beach Movie DVD

After my kiddos saw Teen Beach Movie on DVD, they were excited to check out the bonus feature: behind-the-scene rehearsal footage of 7 musical numbers, one of which has never been seen before “Coolest Cats In Town”.  It was so cute to see them watching them do the dance moves and dancing along with it.  The more times they watch it, the more they have picked up and I must say they are quite the dancers.

Kids Dancing

If you aren’t familiar with Teen Beach Movie it’s about 2 surfers Brady (Ross Lynch from Austin & Ally) and McKenzie (Maia Mitchell) who are boyfriend and girlfriend enjoying their summer surfing but all that’s going to change (don’t worry I’m not going to spoil it for you). During a freak storm, they find themselves transported back in time and in Brady’s favorite musical movie, “Wet Side Story”. While Brady is making the best of the situation (actually just enjoying the fact that he’s living out his favorite movie), McKenzie is freaking out and just wants to get back home. However, by them being there they have altered the movie. As they try to make things right and get back home McKenzie learns more about herself and discovers what truly makes her happy.

Teen Beach Movie is really cute and a little corny (but the good kind of corny that makes it funny) so if you haven’t already seen it or you have but you don’t have the DVD, you should definitely get it for your kid(s). The only down side is that the songs (some of which are really catchy) get stuck in your head…LOL.

Disclosure: I was provided with a copy of Teen Beach Movie on DVD in order to facilitate my review. ALL opinions are my own.
