After seeing all of the previews for the movie Planes, my family and I were finally able to see the movie at a pre-screening last week and we really liked it! In fact, My hubby liked it so much that the next day he said that he would watch it again right then and there.

Disney Planes

I figured Planes would be a good movie but I was actually surprised by how much I liked it.  Maybe it is because I assumed it would be the same as the movie Cars but thankfully it wasn’t.  In Planes, Dusty is a crop duster who dreams of racing and despite being told he was not made to race, he pushes all that aside and follows his dream, faces challenges and conquers his fear.  It wasn’t an easy but he doesn’t give up!

Disney Planes 2

What I loved about the movie is that Dusty has enough faith in himself to pursue his dream even when very few believed in him.  That’s a great message for our kids and quite frankly, even us adults.  He also doesn’t let the competitiveness of the race stop him from being nice and helpful to his fellow racers…which really encourages sportsmanship, another message our society needs to hear and put into practice.

This movie brings about a range of emotions. You’re happy, sad, proud, worried (There is one scene that was so nerve wracking that I almost squeezed my daughter’s hand too tight…I guess I got really into the movie, LOL). A good movie should get you that involved. I could have done without the innuendos in the movie but I don’t think my 7 year old or 4 year old picked up on them.

As I mentioned earlier, my family and I really enjoyed watching the movie Planes and if you haven’t already seen it you should. I would love to hear your thoughts on the film.

Synopsis:

From above the world of “Cars” comes “Disney’s Planes,” an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
