Mila Kunis is no stranger to me, not that I know her personally but I’ve watched her as Jackie on That 70’s Show and I have seen her movies. So, excited was an understatement when I found I would have the chance to interview her for her role as Theodora in Disney’s upcoming film, Oz The Great and Powerful.

After interviewing her, I have to share that I love Mila Kunis and that U would totally love to hang out with her. Not only does she know how to carry herself but she is so real and confident. She is a straight shooter who is just hysterical to be around. I just know that her and I could hang out and have a blast (or maybe get in trouble…but not Hangover Movie trouble).

Mila Kunis walks into the room looking beautiful (like we expected anything less) and says “Mommy Bloggers, it’s a whole new room for me. When did this start happening? I mean this is new right?”. She then went on to say “Can someone explain to me, when did this start happening? This mommy blogger thing? This is the first time I have ever had this.” To which someone said it’s because you have never done a family film. She then responded with “I’ve never done a family movie. This is very true. Oh, touche. I’ve never done a non R rated movie…This is the sweetest thing I have ever seen, this is so funny to me”

I knew right ten that this would be a fun interview and I was right….

*The interview has some edits to keep it flowing smoothly & to keep you reading

Q: What was your experience with The Wizard of Oz as a kid?

Mila Kunis: I came to America when I was seven and a half in 1991. I think the first full length book in English I read when I was nine years old was Return to Oz. I’ve spoken about this completely independent of this movie, prior to ever being attached to this film that as a kid the first movie that I remember seeing and resonated with me was the Wizard of Oz. I think just visually the color, the spectrum of it and how fantastical it was and how much you wanted to live in that world, for a nine year old was so magical and so grand. So, I have the greatest, fondest memories of it.

Q: What was it like working with the cast?

Mila Kunis: James and I have done eight projects together, so he doesn’t count…We’re stuck with one another. Rachel and I had a fantastic time, we had so much fun. Michelle and I literally got to do one thing together and we are dying to work together more. We all had a great time and Detroit was really fun. FYI, in case anybody wants to go to Detroit, I love it. I did.

This is your first experience in the family genre

Mila Kunis: Apparently

*I love how quick she is and how funny

Q: How are you experiencing this differently?

Mila Kunis: Well I’m in a room full of mommies so let’s be clear, this is new.

Q: Do you feel a different responsibility in promoting and talking about this movie?

Mila Kunis: Yeah, I can’t curse.

Us: You can curse

Mila Kunis: No truthfully, the mouse is gonna get so mad, you guys don’t even know. {LAUGHTER}
Oddly enough here’s what I realized. I thought the questions would be a little bit more demure, not you guys but from others, and they’re not. They’re just as obnoxious and awful as when you do an R rated film so I learned nothing changes whether you do a movie for Disney or not. People will still ask you inappropriate questions. So in order to answer it, do I feel like there’s a difference in promoting it? Apparently not. They still put you in a room with these people that apparently have no difference whether you’re making a family driven show or otherwise. But I do realize it’s very sad to me. This is the first film that I’ve done that’s not R rated. It’s a really weird connection, yeah.

Q: Do you have the doll (Theodora’s Disney Doll)?

Mila Kunis: I do.

Q: Do you play with your Disney Doll?

Mila Kunis: I just got it two days ago. It’s still in the box. I won’t lie, I’ve shown it to everybody that walks into the house because let me be clear. It’s not just a doll, it’s a Disney doll…I’m like hey you guys (to everybody that walks into the house), have you seen this? Check this out? See this? . It’s insane. I think you can buy it at Target. Not to say that I know these things but I think you may, yes.
*She is right, they are also available at Target…LOL

The next set of questions (below this image) do have movie spoilers. If you decide that you don’t want to read the spoilers, be sure to come back and read the rest of the interview once you have seen the film.

**Warning: Spoilers below…Proceed at your own risk**

**Warning: Spoilers below… This is your last chance to turn back**

**You have been warned, there’s no turning back now…LOL**

Q: Which character do you like playing more, Theodora or the wicked witch?

Mila Kunis: Truth is I do find that it’s the same character, I really do. I think it’s just a woman scorned and it’s a character that goes through a transformation, an emotional transformation of a heartache and it just so happens to transform in color but I think that the deep rooted aspect of it is just, a broken heart… so I think it’s the same thing. It was fun to play both, for sure.

Q: You’re known for your romantic comedies. How did you feel getting into this sinister, evil role?

Mila Kunis: Am I really known for my comedies? I’ve done two… two. Let’s be clear. {LAUGHTER}

Nothing’s different. I mean, you know, she’s a young, naïve girl who gets her heart broken and then grows a nose. Like everything kind of happens independent of me, just adds on to the fantastical element of it. I think, you know, truthfully it’s just a girl who gets her heart broken like I said earlier. I really don’t find her to be any different. You can put her in a romantic movie, you can put her in a non-romantic film. A girl gets her heat broken. She got her heart broken. This one has a negative side effect. She takes a bite of an apple and things go wrong.

Q: How was the makeup? the process?

Mila Kunis: I think the beginning process was four hours and by the end a little under two. Putting the makeup on wasn’t a problem but taking the makeup off every night makes your face swell. Like, it legitimately puffs it up. Imagine ripping your skin every day, that’s what it does because it’s a full prosthetic piece (the bottom part, the nose and the eyebrows)…You’re constantly pulling at your skin every single night. It’s awful. It’s not even pleasant because they glue it with a cement type of glue, Snappy G, to your face. I think that if I had to smell it today it would probably make me cry. Like that would be my natural reaction, I’d be like oh, god. It’s not pleasant.

So Mila, if you are ever in South Fl. and want to hang out, have your people call my people.

Movie Synopsis:

When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great wizard but into a better man as well.
