Marvel’s Agent Carter is back for a 2nd season and my hubby and I are ready to check out what this season has in store for Peggy Carter. While they are sort of picking up where they left off, there are some changes. One such change being that they are now in California. Even though they won’t disclose all the juicy details, I did find out some things you can expect in this season when I chatted with Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), James D’Arcy (Jarvis) and Executive Producers Tara Butters & Michele Fazekas.
9 Marvel’s Agent Carter Season 2 Fun Facts
- The second season is an evolution of the show. You see these characters moving into new parts of their lives, especially Peggy who at the end of season one realized that in order to really move on with her life, she had to let Captain America go.
- There’s a love triangle: Agent Sousa (who may or may not have already moved on after being turned down by Peggy at the end of season 1) and with ________ (you’re just going to have to watch and see).
- Sousa is running the West Coast and he catches a case where Peggy comes out to help investigate.
- Howard Stark has moved his base of operations to L.A. because you have sort of the burgeoning scientific field and he’s doing some government contract work. Plus, he opened up a movie studio on the side.
- Howard Stark does make an appearance and Dottie Underwood comes back in a fun way (actually a somewhat integral part in the case that they’re working on).
- There a bunch of new characters being brought into this season: Kurtwood Smith who comes and plays a mentor for Thompson and potentially a little bit of a foil for Peggy. Wynn Everett who plays Whitney Frost, a sort of scientific genius who the public thinks is an actress. She’s sort of the main antagonist for the season. Currie Graham, who plays Whitney Frost’s husband. Ken Marino who plays Joseph Manfredi, a mob boss within the Marvel world. Reggie Austin as Dr. Wilkes.
- Whitney Frost’s character is based on Hedy Lamarr, a beautiful actress who was also the inventor of Frequency Hopping…where to the public she is this very glamorous actress but she’s really the brains behind her husband’s corporation. She sort of manipulates from behind the scenes but he’s the public face to it.
- We’ll also get to see how Peggy reacts to the blatant racism that Dr. Wilkes encounters as an African American man in nineteen-forty seven. Although he is a scientist due to his experience in the navy, he comes back and applies to sixteen different companies and Isodyne was the only one that hired him.
- You’ll also see more of the kind of visual effects that you associate with Marvel (in a science based way), even more so than in the first season.
Marvel’s Agent Carter returns for a second season tonight, Tuesday, Jan 19th with a two-hour season premiere (9:00-11:00 p.m. EST) on ABC. Be sure you are tuned in, we will be.
