Last Wednesday my hubby and I were invited to attend a pre-screening of the film Maleficent. We even got some cool Maleficent Horns…
I was excited to see the film. Not only did it look cool but I also wanted to know if it would live up to the hype and I gotta tell you, it did. At the end of the movie, we both turned to one another and agreed that we loved it. It was so well done that it was hard to pinpoint one thing we loved because we enjoyed every part of the movie.
Not only does it have an amazing cast (Angelina Jolie, Elle Fanning and Sam Riley) but it is such a different take on a story we love. We have all seen (or at least heard about) Sleeping Beauty, also known as Aurora, and the curse put on her by Maleficent to fall into a deep sleep (hence the name Sleeping Beauty) BUT in this movie you get to see the other side of it all. Yes, there is more to the story.
Maleficent, the movie, allows you to see her in a whole new light and makes you question all that you once thought of her, at least I did. The writers created an interesting story and the way it was told in this film and made it come to life on screen was incredible. Of course, Angelina Jolie’s amazing portrayal of Maleficent played a big part in making that happen. Honestly, this role was perfect for her.
After seeing the previews for the film, my 7 year old daughter wanted to see the movie but I was concerned that it would be too scary or intense for her (she doesn’t typically like scary movies because it leads to nightmares) so I told her that I’d see it first and decide if she could watch it. My husband and I both agree that it is perfectly fine for her to watch. I think what would be considered “scary” (like a scene that has a dragon) has already been showed during the movie commercials and it really isn’t even that scary.
Maleficent is an excellent movie that you have to go and see now that it is in theaters! I can’t wait to see it again.

I think this is the first Disney movie in a long time that I’ve really wanted to see just for myself. It looks great. Thanks for the review!
It was really a great movie!
It’s strange to me that Angelina Jolie is almost unrecognizable in this movie!
I really enjoyed this movie. . It taught people (I hope they learned) that it’s not right to hurt someone. That something bad happen when you wrong someone. She was so angry for trusting someone she thought was her friend.
