Transitions Lenses is the 2013 Official Sponsor of Sightseeing (OSS) program and has partnered with Chef Robert Irvine and Chef Ana Quincoces in an effort to educate us all about how important healthy vision is in helping us to “see the sights” in our everyday life and enjoying every moment to the fullest. Both of the Chefs were the spokespersons at the 2013 South Beach Food Wine Festival and I was invited to the Fun and Fit event at Jungle Island to checkout the Transitions Lenses booth and meet with Chef Ana for an interview.
As I looked around all the festivities of the event and the beauties of Jungle Island, I was acutely aware of how important my vision is. I would imagine that Chef Ana feels the same when doing what she loves most, Cooking. After all it plays a vital role in reading recipes, choosing the food items she uses, placing the food onto the plate in such a way that is visually appealing to those eating it and so on.
Here’s some of my interview with Chef Ana.

Importance of Sight when it comes to food
When you sit down to eat, the first sense that can appreciate is your sight, then your sense of smell and finally your sense of taste, so making your meal visually appealing is important. Food is a work of art
Importance of colors in food
Absolutely! The more vitamins the brighter the food is, so you’ll find richer colors in fruits and vegetables and those same fruits and vegetables mean the intake of important elements.
Thoughts on Cooking and visual presentation and how it translates into love
Cooking itself is how we show our love for others. You cook with love for those you care for, and when you make something special for them you also serve it with care, so presentation is also the key to win hearts over.
Advice for parents with picky eaters
Make sure your children are a part of the cooking process (allowing them to see it all). Not only will the enjoy the time with you in the kitchen while learning something, but it will also dispel their fears of trying new things or strange looking food because they’ll know what is behind it.
Her idea of a perfect meal
My perfect meal is one that I prepare with family and friends. A meal made with those you love. It doesn’t matter what we eat or how it turns out as long as we are surrounded by family and fiends that I love.
She was sweet enough to take a pic with me
I was also able to get a pic with Chef Robert Irvine
When I was done with the interview, I took a look around their tent and grabbed all of the literature they provided and loved how the kids were provided with a FREE Color Blindness test. I didn’t have my kiddos with me but I went for it anyways.
