Elena of Avalor…A Latina Princess and Role Model

Elena of Avalor is the first Latina princess and while her being Latina is pretty awesome, it is her character that makes her a role model for our girls. It is those qualities that I hope my kiddos see and learn from and are what truly make her a real leader!

Set in the enchanted fairytale land of Avalor, this new series tells the story of Elena, a brave and adventurous teenager who has saved her kingdom from an evil sorceress and must now learn to rule as crown princess until she is old enough to be queen. Elena’s journey will lead her to understand that her new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience and compassion, the traits of all truly great leaders. In addition to the traits listed above, I love that Elena is goal oriented but always puts her family first. She is beautiful, confident and smart.

Last Friday, we celebrated the premiere episode of Elena of Avalor with some friends and the kiddos had a blast!

Food

Chicken nuggets are my go to when it comes to feeding the kiddos BUT because we were celebrating a Latina princess, I wanted to incorporate some Hispanic finger foods. So…ham croquettes, Beef stuffed potatoes (papa rellenas) and chicken empanadas were also on the menu (and were a hit, I might add).

Decorations & Fun

In addition to watching the premiere episode of Elena of Avalor, the kiddos enjoyed coloring the table runner, creating their own scepters and they even got to build their own Jaquin.
