Based on a true story and cast with Chrissy Metz and Josh Lucas, I knew I would be watching Breakthrough. I even assumed that I would enjoy it. What I wasn’t prepared for was just how moved I would be while watching it. Breakthrough gave me all the feels.
How could I not be when it is a beautiful story about a mother’s love for her son and how her faith got them through, even when the odds were against them. In a time where there is so much heart break, it was refreshing to see good come out of a bad situation.
As a mom it tugged on my heart strings and as a believer my faith was reassured. Although it deals a lot with faith, I don’t believe it excludes anyone or that faith is being pushed on you. Breakthrough is a feel good movie that will most likely make you cry.
Is this appropriate for kids? Even with all the emotional parts and the near death experience, I would say yes it is. The question really is, would your kids want to watch it? I don’t think that some of the younger kids won’t be. Breakthrough is in theaters March 20, 2019 and if you plan on seeing it, be sure to grab some tissues because you are going to need it. Maybe even a lot of it.
