Vin Diesel Fans (yes, I am referring to myself!), our guy is back and this time its as Bloodshot. I know that fans have been itching to see Vin in a superhero role, so here is your chance. But…I don’t want you get your hopes up because Bloodshot is your average vengeance seeking origin story. Worse, it wasn’t even a real creative story line.
Despite being action filled with some visually cool effects, the story line was all over the place. At one point (towards the beginning of the film), I was legit concerned that they had skipped some vital parts of the story telling because things weren’t adding up. Although, they were able to explain why there were still other parts of the story missing. One example being, why Jimmy hated Ray as much as he did. With all that animosity, there had to have been a story there.
Thankfully Bloodshot had its funny moments and that’s thanks to Lamorne Morris as Wilfred Wigans. Wigans was a scene stealer and a much needed addition to the movie. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed Bloodshot but they could have done so much more with his character and his story. It was a missed opportunity for them to make Bloodshot as cool as I imagine he could be.
Is this movie appropriate for the kiddos to watch? Nope. There is a ton of violence (right from the start of the movie), a romantic scene and while there aren’t a ton of bad words, there are a few of them. If you are into super hero films that have a ton of action, be sure to check out Bloodshot, which is now available to be purchased on one of the online streaming apps.
