Time travel nostalgia alert. I just got Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure on Blu-ray for review and I was sent back in time over 2 decades. For you young whipper-snappers that aren’t familiar with this iconic movie, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure is a 1989 buddy comedy in which two metal head slackers, Bill (Alex Winter) & Ted (Keanu Reeves), travel through time to assemble a group of historical figures for their high school history presentation and do so with the help of a time traveler from the future named Rufus (George Carlin).

It’s very important that Bill & Ted get a good grade in this presentation because if not, Bill will get shipped off to military school and then the boys won’t learn to play the guitar and it is imperative that they do learn. You see, Bill & Ted’s music ends up creating a utopia in the future, so if they don’t play…no there will be no utopian society. Pretty cool concept even for the ’80s.

This digitally remastered version is now in 1080p with MPEG-4 AVC codec which is a great improvement from what we saw almost 25 years ago (did I just date myself?). The audio is one of the Blu-ray’s best features with English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1; Spanish Dolby Digital 1.0. The movie’s music, especially the Wyld Stallyns jam sessions and time travel sounds are the big winner here. The Blu-ray also comes with some “Excellent” Special Features like:

  • The Original Bill & Ted: In Conversation with Screenwriters and friends.
  • Air Guitar Tutorial with Bjorn, Turoque & the Rockness Monster.
  • One Sweet and Sour Chinese Adventure to Go: From season one episode of the BILL & TED’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE animated series.

My final verdict is that I think Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure Blu-ray edition is “Most Excellent”.
