If you don’t already know, both my husband and my son are super hero fanatics (Actually my dad and my brother-in-law are as well) so once we heard about the Man of Steel movie, there was no doubt in my mind that we would be watching it as soon as it came out.
Man of Steel opened up in theaters this past weekend (6/14). Since it also happened to be Father’s Day weekend, I seized the opportunity to make it my husband’s Father’s Day Gift. Being that it was Father’s Day, I wanted to make it as special as possible, so I hired a baby sitter for Sunday night and I made reservations to see it in IMAX 3D, which we had never done before. Needless to say, he was excited about his gift.
We arrived about an hour early, because for an IMAX film the key to good seating is sitting all the way in the top row and in the middle. Once inside the theater, we sat in the middle seats of the 3rd row and anxiously waited for Man of Steel to begin. Seeing the movie in IMAX 3D was pretty cool!
I really enjoyed watching Man of Steel. We thought it had a unique story line that actually gave us a glimpse into Super Man’s back story and his parents more than any other film has done. It also takes the time to explain why Super Man has his powers.
Man of Steel also has great effects and if you look past the amount of destruction their fighting caused, the fight scenes were sweet to watch!
I think that Henry Cavill did a great job in his role as Clark Kent/Kal-El and his supporting cast members did a good job themselves. You may recognize the names of his co-stars:
- Lois Lane: Amy Adams
- Jor‑El: Russell Crowe
- General Zod: Michael Shannon
- Jonathan Kent: Kevin Costner
While I enjoyed the film, it is not a movie I would let my 6 year old and 4 year old watch. There are 2 “bad” words and some scenes that might be to intense for them. However, you know your child best. I would just use it as an excuse to have a date night…LOL.
Have you seen Man of Steel yet? If so, what were you thoughts about the movie (no spoilers please)? If not, are you planning to?
