If you are feeling overwhelmed or frustrated with using coupons, you are not alone! Even I feel that way at times…..
As a seasoned couponer, I too accidentally leave my coupons at home, forget to buy the newspaper (which is a big no-no), deal with cashiers who are not pleasant or helpful, the list goes on. When that happens, I brush it off (maybe not immediately) and I refuse to let it stop me from saving money and getting items for Free (oh, how I LOVE Free goodies). If you are wondering why, it is because my couponing adventure has allowed me to provide for my family and help others in need, so the positives far outweigh the negatives.
Remember, start slow. Choose the store you shop at the most and get comfortable with that one before adding more stores. Expect that mistakes will happen and when they do, it is okay. You can always void the transaction and try again, return the items, bring the coupons with the receipt for reimbursement and/or consider it to be a learning experience so that it doesn’t happen again (I have plenty of “learning experiences”…LOL).
I encourage you to find and connect with other couponers….because if anyone gets it, they do (who else understands the ramblings of a good deal at Walgreens when you combine X coupon with the store deal). They will share your victories and build you up when you feel defeated (You may even be able to trade coupons with them – how cool is that?). BTW – We now have a Teach Me 2 Save Community feature on the site that will allow you to meet other couponers, ask questions, post deals, etc., so I encourage you to take advantage of this resource.
Using coupons may not always be easy but it is definitely worth it. The days that you save BIG, more than make up for any bad experiences you may have had.
DO NOT QUIT! DO NOT GIVE UP!
YOU CAN DO IT!
