I let my hubby write this one since he is a major Comic Book Fan. I figured it would be interesting to hear his thoughts about the film….
Ever since I could remember I have been a comic book fan. One of my top favorite superheroes of all time is Batman because he has always seemed like the more realistic of the superheroes. Aliens, radioactive goo, and magic phrases weren’t that believable in the making of a superhero. However, an ordinary man that overcame tragedy through discipline, educated himself in various martial arts with great deducing skills and a boat load of money to buy and build superhero gadgets….well, now that is believable.
I have shared my love of superheroes with my 3 year old son who now changes his name on a daily basis to that of a superhero, one of which is of course Batman. Needless to say, I couldn’t wait to see The Dark Knight Rises and also see how Writer/Director Christopher Nolan used the new Bane character as well as the new Catwoman and I must say that I was not disappointed. More surprising was the role of a new character, Gotham Police Officer Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Also, much like Heath Ledger did for Joker’s character in the second of the Dark Knight Trilogy movies, Michael Caine brings Oscar-like quality to his recurring role of Alfred.

Overall TDKR completes the epic Batman Trilogy with everything we’d expect from a Christopher Nolan action movie. Exceptional special effects, endless action, sprinkled with romance (yes, I said sprinkled and romance in a superhero movie review ), witty banter, and plenty of drama. Here are some of the highlights (but with no spoilers):
Set in Gotham City 8 years after the last Dark Knight movie, Gotham finds itself crimeless after the Dent Act put away most of the organized crime activity and Batman went into retirement. But all good things come to an end when Bane comes knocking and unleashes a crime wave too big for the Dark Knight to ignore. All the supporting characters like Catwoman, Alfred, Commissioner Gordon, Detective Blake, Lucious Fox, Bane and others have major roles in developing the story line and did an outstanding job bringing this blockbuster to life. I truly enjoyed the Dark Knight Rises and I’m sure you will too.
