I had the opportunity to do a phone interview with CJ Adams, who plays Timothy Green in the amazing film “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” which will be in theaters on Aug. 15th. I was highly impressed by him because he is so well-mannered and professional yet he is only 12 years old boy. hope everyone falls in love with his character as much as I did.
What was your favorite part about playing the character of Timothy Green?
Being such a sweet boy. I liked playing someone who was different and unique.
What characteristics do you share with Timothy?
Both and Timothy and I are very truthful, I wouldn’t lie about anything. Also, Timothy treats anyone the same no matter how they act and that’s what I do. For example, if I had a bully at the school and he was being mean to me, I would be nice to him.
Of all the qualities that your parents (in the film) wished you would have, which was your favorite?
Having a good heart because it’s very important to treat people the way that you want them to treat you.
How did you prepare yourself to play Timothy Green?
I learned all of his personalities by reading the script and I crafted my Timothy by putting all of them together and then I became that Timothy.
Were you given any advice from your Adult Co-stars, Jennifer & Joel ? If so, what?
Click on “Read More” to read the rest of this interview
Create your character by putting all of his traits together and become him by putting your mind into his head.
What was the most challenging part of filming the movie?
Having to finish school and filming at the same time because I would have to go back and forth and rush between the school room and the set.
What can adults learn from Timothy Green?
You should always take care of your kids and always have their back rather than always be on their case.
What do you want kids to learn from the film?
I want kids to learn that no matter who the person is or how they act, even if it’s a bully, I want you to treat them the exact same you would want to be treated.
Besides Timothy Green, what’s one of your favorite movies?
The Avengers because it is so well done.
Who is your favorite Avenger?
The bad guy (Loki) because he can duplicate himself.
In the movie you play soccer, is that a sport you like and/or normally play?
Soccer is my main sport, I love soccer.
Have you always wanted to act, and how did you get into acting?
Well, I never really wanted to act. It kind of just came suddenly because there was this free for all trial for Dan in Real Life, and I was like, well why not try out just for fun and I got the part. So now I’m trying to do more movies now. I’m in the business now.
**What do you love most about acting? (my question)
Being able to just play around, doing funny voices if I have to. It’s just fun for me.
He really is so wise for his age and I wish him the best of luck with this film and his acting career!
