I had heard that Disney would be out with Big Hero 6 in November but it wasn’t until I was able to get an extensive sneak peek at the film while I was in LA that I became excited about it. It’s going to be a great film!
In addition to being able to screen various parts of the film, we were also able to chat with Disney veterans Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh, Meet the Robinsons, Tarzan and The Princess and the Frog) and Chris Williams (Bolt, Glago’s Guest, Mulan).
Here’ what they shared with us:
- Big Hero 6 is based on a Marvel Comic but the names of characters and titles are the only thing that’s the same as the comics.
- The relationship between Hiro and Baymax is at the emotional heart of the movie.
- Baymax is an inflatable robot, which is a real thing.
- Baymax, the robot, has the walk of a baby penguin
- They have a multi-cultural cast and while they found the perfect cast, the characters weren’t designed with anyone specific in mind.
- The movie takes place in a fictitious town that is a cross from San Francisco and Tokyo called San Fransokyo.
It’s a film that is filled with emotion, humor, friendship and some actions scenes that everyone in the family will love. Check out sneak peek of it below:

This really does look like a cute movie. I think the comedy movie about an inflatable robot sounds interesting. I know the kids would love it. Have to see it when is comes out.
I am pretty sure my grandson is going to want to see this movie, I can see myself sitting with him in the theater as he laughs and eats his pop corn. Grandma time with him, priceless.
