Events for the holiday season are full of great family fun, but many can be very expensive. There are ways, however, to find free events that you and your whole family can attend. Check out these resources to help you make the most of your holiday season, even if you’re on a budget.

Check your area’s tourism site
Your local tourist bureau is full of information on all things going on around town at all times. You can stop by their office and pick up brochures for thing happening in town, or things happening all over the state. If you don’t have time to actually go to their office, check online. Many tourist bureaus will post a calendar of events to keep people up-to-date, especially this time of year when so much is happening.
Pick up a Sunday Newspaper
The Sunday paper is thicker than the papers printed other days of the week, plus it has an extensive list of upcoming events. Flip to the Community Page and check out what is going on around town. The only downfall is that it won’t post cancellations or things outside of the local area. To find such information, check the newspaper’s website.
Check Social Media and local publications
Many local magazines (especially those geared to parents) will post local events that are family friendly and free. Pick up a local newsletter or magazine, which are generally offered for free, and get to looking for events you can enjoy this year. You can also check social media sites made specifically for your area to determine if there are any events the other publications may have missed.
