Although we live near the everglades and Art & I have been on an airboat ride (over 9 years ago), we have never taken the kiddos. While we were in Orlando we figured it was time to check it out so we headed on over to Boggy Creek.
They have 3 packages available (Scenic Nature Tour, Swamp Excursion & Night Expedition) so we opted for the Swamp Excursion and I am so glad we did. It was a bit more expensive than the Scenic Nature Tour package but it was worth it! The 4 of us had an airboat all to ourselves and because it was smaller we were able to go into areas that we wouldn’t have been able to get into if we had been on the bigger one.
For that same reason we were able to see a few alligators during our ride…a nesting alligator, a baby alligator, and a medium size alligator. We were also able to see 2 bald eagles take flight which was quite amazing.

The tour guide was very nice and extremely knowledgeable. He went above and beyond by taking a few family pictures in the middle of the swamp and made it his mission to find us some alligators to see. I enjoyed every single second of those 45 minutes on the airboat. Having my babies (all of them) with me as we’re speeding through the water, with the sun above us and the wind hitting our faces was an incredible feeling and definitely a moment I won’t soon forget.
