Every day, millions of babies are at risk of missing opportunities critical to their growth and development due to poverty, lack of early stimulation, poor health/nutrition and lack of early education. By the age of three, 85% of a baby’s brain is already developed and the brain forms critical connections that set the foundation for future healthy development. For the children living in poverty, with limited access to early education, they tend to be 18 months behind developmentally by the age of 4, which means they enter kindergarten unready to succeed. Unfortunately, that is the case for nearly 15 million children living in poverty in America.
Thankfully there are organizations and corporations, like JOHNSON’S® and Save the Children, that want to help these children. Through its programs, Save the Children (a global organization dedicated to early childhood development) believes in giving children a healthy start. With recognized leaders, various programs and a proven model that invests in childhood every day, they provide support to 300,000 U.S children in need, and JOHNSON’S® shares in this mission to make a positive impact on baby’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
To demonstrate their mutual commitment, JOHNSON’S® and Save the Children are bringing awareness to the importance of early childhood development (ECD) programs, so that every child can reach their full potential. They have united to develop a global toolkit that will integrate early stimulation and learning into community-based programs in low resource settings. The holistic toolkit will incorporate the latest brain research focused on child development to support early brain development and offer practical solutions and interventions that can be integrated into health, nutrition, and community-based programs globally.
Every child deserves a fair shot at a vibrant future. That is why this holiday season, JOHNSON’S® and Save the Children are igniting a social movement to support early childhood development and we can help! All we need to do is watch and share this video, and select “Save the Children” through the Donate a Photo app. When we do, JOHNSON’S® will triple its donation in support of early childhood education programs (up to $150,000).
Let’s join in and show how we and our families stand up for children who need access to critical education programs.
