Now that my daughter is in 3rd grade, the curriculum has gotten harder. Last school year, she understood the Math lessons and did well on her tests but this year…not so much.
As a parent, it is hard to see your child struggle. Thankfully, when it comes to the area of math, there is something that can be done to help a struggling child. This school year we have been sitting down together and doing every math problem together (last year, she was able to do it on her own) AND she is currently enrolled in the Mathematics Enrichment Program at the Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (IMACS). For more about IMACS, check out a post I write about them HERE.
While IMACS isn’t helping her with her math homework or covering the same lessons she is currently learning in school, she is being taught to develop critical thinking skills and a genuine understanding of the logical reasoning process required to solve real problems, math or otherwise (which is very important).
She has been going for about 4 weeks now and so far she is loving it because she is learning in a fun way that she actually understands (which is definitely giving her confidence boost when it comes to math comprehension). Actually, she loves it so much that when I tried to convince her to go later in the week instead of her regular day (because I was sick) she was bummed about it. So much so, that she actually convinced me to take her…the things we do for our kids! Truth be told, I was happy that she wanted to go which is why I took her despite being sick.
How are your kids doing this school year? Even if they are doing well or are especially talented in math, they can benefit from IMACS Mathematics Enrichment Program.
Would you like for your child to experience a Mathematics Enrichment program? If so, you’re going to be happy because TeachMe2Save.com has partnered with IMACS for a Giveaway. Yep. A Giveaway…
IMACS is giving away a $25 Amazon.com eGift Card AND (1) enrollment in the second quarter of its Mathematics Enrichment program (this 8-week quarter starts the week of November 10th and has a prize value up to $575). The winner may choose to attend classes at any of IMACS’ five South Florida teaching centers and your child will need to attend a FREE placement class so that IMACS can place them in the correct level of instruction.
