What is the Quantum Realm? We have only briefly seen it in previous films but Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Peyton Reed (the Director) and Kevin Feige (the Producer) shared some fun facts about The Quantum Realm and Quantumania during the press conference.
Fun facts about The Quantum Realm and Quantumania
- It’s an entire universe below the surface where we meet all sorts of fun, crazy characters.
- It is a place that is on the subatomic level where space and time act differently.
- Peyton worked on the Quantum Realm for three and a half years.
- While thinking about what it would look like and be, they talked about parallels to The Wizard of Oz a lot in terms of taking and meeting a family down there.
- They looked at everything from electron microscope photography to things like heavy metal magazines from the 70s and 80s so that the could include those kind of elements.
- Some other elements include a little sword and sorcery element and there’s even a Mobius element to it.
- They wanted to create a very vivid world that has its own internal history and internal logic. A place that has creatures who are the people there.
- Some of the things they explored was how they travel, the laws of physics, etc.
- Creating this world was a part of the MCU that they were free to create on their own, and Peyton said “…it was one of the most exciting things about it.”
