UM Graduation Cropped

Walking across the graduation stage for the University of Miami in front of my family and fellow graduates, was one of the greatest moments of my life. I had done it. I had finally earned my degree and become the first one on my father’s side of the family to graduate from college. My family was proud but more importantly, I was proud of myself. I had finally achieved a long time goal and despite various obstacles, nothing had stopped me from making it happen.

The long hours of homework and studying, the tests and essay papers…I remember working full time and going to school full time so that I would be able to pay for my classes and books. Making it happen wasn’t easy but I did what I had to do because a higher education was important to me. It still is, especially now that I am a mom.

One day it will be them walking across that stage and me cheering them on filled with pride and joy. I want them to have that moment. I would love for everyone to have that moment if that’s what they really want. Unfortunately, financial pressure is the number one reason Hispanic youth do not attend college. That’s why I am glad that Coca-Cola is partnering with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to help Hispanic families achieve theUM Grad pic with Ariir college dreams and aspirations, as part of the #ForTheDream Hispanic Education Program and the #ForTheDreamSweeps sweepstakes (more about this below).

Coca-Cola is donating $100,000 to the Hispanic Scholarship Fund so that Hispanic families have the opportunity to achieve their educational goals and become future leaders. Plus, they want to help raise additional money toward the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, which is why Coca-Cola is also donating $1 for every social media post with the hashtag #ForTheDream (up to $10,000).
