If you loved 22 in Soul (I mean, who didn’t love her), you’re going to love seeing her before Joe comes along. I am always impressed by how much a short can bring you joy in such a short amount of time but they have done it again. 22 vs Earth is so funny and definitely worth the watch!

22 vs. Earth

I got the chance to chat with its director, Kevin Nolting, yesterday and I compiled a list of Pixar’s 22 vs EARTH Short Fun Facts for you to enjoy. You can check those out below and be sure to watch this funny short when it streams on Disney+ starting tomorrow, April 30th.

Pixar’s 22 vs EARTH Short Fun Facts

  • They officially started working on this film in February 2020 and it took them about 6 months to make. Because Pixar’s production line is so full, they piggybacked off the finishing of Soul.
  • Originally the secret organization’s name was “Chaos” but since it was also in the Get Smart TV Show, they didn’t want it associated with it and opted for Apocalypse instead.
  • They came up with the name “Apocalypse” not only because it was funny and worked for their acronym but also because Kevin Nolting is a fan of Apocalypse Now.
  • The food-inspired code names were originally something else, they came up with “Zimmy” because of a Bob Dylan song and “Moonbeam” because of governor Jerry Brown.
  • While Kevin doesn’t know of any Easter Eggs that he didn’t put in, you can be on the lookout for 2 camera shots from famous scenes from Apocalypse Now.
  • Tina Fey actually recorded her lines from home, in her husband’s recording studio (since it was done during quarantine).
  • During the last scene, a question we have all most likely asked at some point is asked and left unanswered (of course), they did that to create a conversation.

22 vs EARTH will be available on Disney+ on Friday April 30th.

More about Pixar’s 22 vs EARTH

Set before the events of Disney and Pixar’s “Soul,” 22 defies the rules of The Great Before and refuses to go to Earth, enlisting a gang of five other new souls in her attempt at rebellion. However, as her cohorts’ activities lead to unexpected results, 22’s subversive plot may actually lead to a surprising revelation about the meaning of life.
