One of the things I look forward to the most during Christmas is taking our family Christmas portraits. It is something that we have been doing since the kids were born which means I get to see just how much they have grown up with each passing year. Thankfully this year prepping for our photos wasn’t as stressful and the the kiddos actually smiled without having to be told to do so repeatedly (It was a Christmas miracle).
So why was prepping for our photo session less stressful this year? I’ll tell you my secret…less fuss over the clothes.
In years past, I was all about having us wear Christmas colors (red, green, gold or silver) and I felt that we all had to be color coordinated or match in some way but I’m over it. A burden was lifted and my horizons expanded when I decided that I wanted to be able to use these pictures in my house year round (so no Christmas colors) and I learned that wearing different colors and styles was actually “cool” from a fashionable friend (although I am certain that wasn’t the word she used for it).
So, I opted for light colors I thought looked good together and chose outfits that fit each of our personalities. We were comfy and looking good (if I do say so myself, which I do) as we headed on over to the park. Thankfully it wasn’t too hot out or too windy like last year’s Christmas portraits. It was a great day.
So here you go. Here’s a look at our 2016 Christmas Portraits.
