I think the last time I visited Universal Studios Hollywood I was a pre-teen and while I won’t say how many years ago that was, just know that it has been a LONG time. So, when some of my friends suggested that we go there while in California, I was excited. Not only because of how much fun I remember it to be but also because we’d be going without kids. What? Is that bad to say?
There’s nothing like the magic of seeing a theme park like Universal Studios Hollywood through a child’s eyes but there’s also a special kind of magic that comes from visiting a theme park without kids! Whether you’re hitting up the park solo or planning an adults-only outing with your friends, Universal Studios Hollywood can be enjoyed in a whole new way. Here are some helpful hints on how to make the most of your visit.
Helpful Hints For an Adults-Only Visit to Universal Studios Hollywood
Tip #1: Enjoy Your Freedom!
One of the highlights of visiting a theme park without kids is freedom! No strollers to pack, no snacks to dole out, no diaper blowouts – you get the idea. Take full advantage by ditching the agenda and enjoying some spontaneity! See a cool ride that catches your eye? Ride it! Want to have a churro for dinner? Do it! You don’t get this kind of opportunity very often, so take full advantage and leave your “Mom hat” at home.
Tip #2: Forget Bedtime
Universal Studios Hollywood stays open as late as 10:00 PM depending on the season, so you can forget about an early bedtime and enjoy a night out! Click here for current hours. Or if you’re more of an early bird, book your tickets online and get access to the park one hour earlier than everyone else!
Tip #3: Bring Back a Souvenir
Whether you’re at Universal Studios Hollywood without kids by chance or by design, the kiddos are bound to be a little jealous of all the fun you’re having. So pick up a fun little toy from one of the many gift shops that you’ll know they will enjoy and bring it back as a special souvenir just for them!
Tip #4: Prioritize Experiences You Can’t Have With Kids
A grown-up theme park outing gives you the perfect opportunity to go on scary rides and check out attractions that wouldn’t be suitable for the little ones.

This terrifying attraction will have you screaming your head off as you run for your life from zombies! Yes, we did it and Yes, I screamed the whole time.
Being in the audience of a live TV taping is the kind of unique activity that would be a ton of fun for adults – and bore most children!
This unique tour gives you a peek behind-the-scenes and takes you on a thrilling ride with King Kong 360 3-D and Fast & Furious – Supercharged. Not only are these pulse-pounders best suited for mature nerves, but given that the rest of the tour features a Jaws attack, Boeing 747 wreckage, and the Bates Motel, this one will be thoroughly enjoyed by parents solo.
