The last time my family and I went on an airboat ride in Orlando we absolutely loved it, so much so that we knew we wanted to do it again. This time we thought we’d give one a try much closer to home, so we headed on over to Everglades Holiday Park.
After all. Everglades Holiday Park offers airboat rides, an alligator show, camping and boat rentals AND they are also home to the Gator boys! Have you seen their show on Animal Planet?
Everglades Holiday Park offers both group airboat tours and private airboat tours. While we did the group tour, I personally prefer a private tour because you’re out in the open and you can go into places that you can’t with the bigger airboat, so you may see more wild life.
After taking a family pic on the dock in front of the airboats (that we later purchased for only $10…you can see it below), my family loaded into the front row.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and we were able to see two alligators. We got really close to a big one (not dangerously close) that had actually lost one of its legs in a fight. The other alligator was smaller and sort of hidden but we got to see him so that counts…LOL. It is so beautiful being in the midst of nature.
Once the airboat ride was done we went inside their store for a quick snack and then head on over to their alligator show. It’s only about 10 minutes long and definitely worth watching. You can tell that they love the Gators and get a kick out of doing cool things like sticking their head in the alligators mouth.
After the show for $5 donation to you and/or your kiddos can hold a small alligator. While my daughter wouldn’t even stand next to it, my 4-year old held it like a champ.
If you get hungry, besides the snacks you can find in the store, you can also order alligator bites and frog legs.
If you want a cool souvenir from Everglades Holiday Park and/or the gator boys you can also check out the gift shop.
If you’re up for an airboat ride and an alligator show, be sure to head on over to Everglades Holiday Park (21940 Griffin Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33332). Yo can also check out their website.
Dislosure: My family and I were given tickets for an airboat ride in order to facilitate my review. ALL opinions are my own…wouldn’t have it any other way.
