I think we all know that saving money is important but how to make that happen is the real challenge. What works for one person may not work for another BUT the key to success is finding what works for you and sticking with it. That is why I am sharing these money saving tips with you. I want you to give them a try and see what works for you.
I’ve previously shared about how the 52 week money challenge is a great money saving plan but here are a few other easy ways you can save money:
- At the end of each day, put all your spare change in a jar
- Search for coupons and coupon codes before making purchases
- Use money-saving apps when you go shopping
- Call service providers and credit card companies and negotiate a lower rate every few months
- Create mean plans that will allow you to make the most of the food you have and helps you only purchase food you will use (so nothing goes to waste)
Even is what you are saving doesn’t seem like a lot, over time it adds up.

Always compare prices and know the time of years you are buying stuff. If it is near black Friday, it may be on sale. Some of the entertainment books will actually save you money depending on the restaurants in the books. I find signing up for some business eclubs will save a few dollars here and there. Bing rewards program for searches could net you around 90 dollars in Amazon, Gamestop or other rewards (I use these for my kids Xbox Minecraft skins).
Coupons, have the store reward card and make sure those coupons are up to date. Also make sure you have your list and coupons organized for check out!

I think that depends on the person, if you can keep in a very strict budget on your credit card, and can make sure to pay it off in time in full everytime, a credit card can earn you money through the points/rewards system, but if you can’t keep yourself to a very strict budget, they can definitely be a huge problem.

I head straight for the sale/clearance section at department stores. Never pay full price for ANYTHING at a department store, unless it’s a gift, and use coupons/reward programs whenever possible.

My best tip is to make weekly budget plans and have a change reserve. When you get change from any type of cash transaction place it in the jar. When the jar is half full or completely full take it to a change exchange machine to get the cash value. That has helped me so much. That change you would normally toss aside can add up and be a tank of gas or help with groceries.

Buying in bulk is not always getting the best deal- so do a little bit of research and determine which size, count, portion, etc will be the cheapest by figuring out the cost of each item. Example: 20 count bundle of toilet paper, vs. a 4 count- the 20 count is obviously more expensive, but when you break it down into the cost of each individual roll, the 20 is the better deal.

Thrift shops first, then retail. Not just goodwill: A major hypermarket chain has a seconds store in town where everything’s at least 1/2 off. We check there first if we need it.
Coupons are getting hard to find but I’ve found that if I check the manufacturers website there are some there occasionally, there may be rewards or coupon programs (Silk soy milk is one I belong to) and there have been times when I’ve really liked a product and written to the manufacturer and they’ve sent me vouchers for free items.

Also, when I go shopping, I only take as much cash as I will need for the things on my grocery list. This prevents over spending and buying food that I didn’t plan for. If I don’t use a credit card, I’m destined to spend much less!

one of the best ways I save money is checking thrift stores first for something I need. For instance, I needed to buy a purse to match a fancy dress, and thrift stores have dozens of these so it makes sense to buy one there for only a one time occasion. And for only $1.50 too!
